Style Profile: Troy Dylan Allen

A SCAD graduate with an affinity for sequins, ruffles, and tulle, Troy's endless talent and infectious energy have earned him the honor of dressing celebrities like Bartsch and Dapperton while he has worked to develop his namesake brand.

Q: I would love to hear about your journey in fashion. When did you first take an interest in clothes as an art form and as a medium of self-expression?
A: I grew up doing ballet and I was always more mesmerized by the costumes and the craft of making them. There was a Marc Jacobs store in Savannah when I was growing up and I would go in every weekend and just devour the fashion books and look at every seam and sequin. It wasn't until I got to college that I could afford to buy the clothes I loved, so I started making these tulle pieces to wear to go out on the weekends. And, here I am now wearing full regalia just to go to Kroger.
Q: What does Pride Month mean to you?
A: Pride is a time to celebrate how far we’ve come, but also a chance for us to have conversations with those around us. Pride opens up dialogues that you sometimes assume people know about, but they may not. Also, I like to go back to this beach bar I grew up going to that hasn’t changed at all since I was a kid. I look at the same records and dollar bills on the walls and think about how proud younger me would be if he saw me today. We all get so hard on ourselves, but the comfort I feel in my queerness today is beyond my younger self’s wildest dreams.

Favorite color: Lilac aka Cashmere Rose. I've been dying my hair this color for 9 years. It's a lifestyle!
Favorite Restaurant: Le Farfalle, Low Life, and Babas! I've definitely driven to Le Farfalle from Savannah in my pajamas just for the Cacio e Pepe.
Favorite Designers: Jonathan Anderson, Marc Jacobs (especially for Louis Vuitton), Vivienne Westwood, and always Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel.

A: I'm fun loving, free wheeling, and always down for a good time!

A: People who have a strong sense of personal direction with their style. There used to be this older lady who lived above me. She would match her nails to her gloves, sunglasses, and bag every single day. That's glamour! But if we had to put a name to it: Isabella Blow!

Q: What trends are you eyeing this year?
A: Sleeker looks with accessory pops! Brooches, Necklaces, Multibags! I've been so entranced by Truman Capote's Old New York and I just want to be one of his Swans!
