Q: How has your style changed since becoming a mom?
A: I think that my wardrobe has become more concise since having a child, because I have no time to put together outfits in the morning. I have 10 minutes to throw something on, you know, and get Maggie ready for the day. So I need to have things that I know work and I feel confident in, that feel effortless and that I know are going to look great.
Q: What makes these outfits quintessential Helen?
A: So I think what makes these outfits quintessentially Helen and connects them is that they're very comfortable and I feel very at ease in them. They're kind of more masculine, they're oversized; there's like a contrast between the masculine and the feminine, which I really love. And, they just feel easy and effortless.
Q: In 2024, what are you investing in?
A: I'm investing in classic pieces that I can wear over and over again that I don't have to think about too much. I would invest in anything that I can throw on, you know, multiple times a week with multiple different outfits and it just works in my wardrobe.

Q: How does your career impact your day-to-day process of getting dressed?
A: At work, I'm trying to be creative and experiment with new styles and really push things. I think because I do spend so much time dressing other people, dressing my kid, I prefer, for myself, to keep it really simple paired back. Like I know what works for me and I think it's tempting as a stylist or as a creative person to kind of try these new things and explore different styles, but it's nice as well to feel like I've found what works for me and just lean into it and it's easy. It takes the pressure off as well, like I don't need to think about what I'm wearing so much, and can focus on styling other people.

Q: Are there any trends right now you could see yourself engaging in?
A: I'm definitely done with the Y2K moment. I'm ready to kind of go back to a moment that’s more classic, more elegant, more paired back, more structured. I think more tailoring as well: it’s not normally in my wheelhouse but could be fun to explore.
