With a resume that boasts Marc Jacobs, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton as a few of her former employers, it's no surprise Gabriela (@stillintribeca) is incredibly chic. However, Gabriela's life is doubly exciting now, as she prepares to welcome her first child in just a few months. We spent a day in late February with Gabriela, learning about her style and putting together a few not-so-maternity looks.

Q: We loved all of your outfits! How would you describe your style and your approach to getting dressed each day?

A: Balance, tension, juxtaposition, whatever word you want to use, is really the core of my style. I usually start with a hero piece, and pair with something totally opposite, whether that is in color, texture or silhouette. I find it makes for the most satisfying combinations! If I am feeling particularly uninspired, I stick with the basics and ramp up the accessories.

Q: How has your style changed throughout your life?

A: I don’t know if my style really has; I still like the things I did 15 years ago. I love classics with a twist, pieces that are just a bit odd and irreverent or have details that only the wearer knows about. I think my philosophy around shopping has definitely changed. I don’t feel the need to buy something new 2-3 times a week or impulsively. Now, I see something, let it marinate and if I’m still thinking about it a few weeks or months later, then it’s the right piece for me.

Q: Do you have your eye on any trends for 2024? What are you shopping for?

A: For Spring, I am massively into long vests, and as a pregnant woman this has been a great way to add some interest to outfits, and not worry too much about fitting now vs later. For Fall, I am excited for the Harlequin collars, I have some old Marc Jacobs pieces that have them, and excited to restyle them!

Q: We have been obsessed with your maternity content and how you've remained so stylish throughout your pregnancy. Do you have any advice for people on how to shop while expecting?

A: Oh my gosh, thank you!! My best advice is don’t put yourself in a box! What worked for you before, might not work for you now and that’s okay!! My whole wardrobe is high-waisted pleated pants, and those simply do not work for a bump. You are going into a new season of life and trying new things might seem daunting but once you know what you feel good in, it is a domino effect!
