About Hampden
Hampden is a multi-brand boutique offering an ultra-curated selection of over 100 established and emerging luxury fashion labels along with a unique contemporary designer assortment of ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories. Situated on Charleston’s famous King Street, the 10,000 square foot flagship location is housed across three historic buildings that date back to 1878, making Hampden the largest storefront on the iconic street.

 With a focus on creating clean lines while providing an inviting atmosphere, the main spaces feature poured concrete floors, exposed original wood beam ceiling, and industrial fixtures to allow the clothing to hang against a clean backdrop that encourages discovery. The dressing rooms are outfitted in custom Rebecca Atwood wallpaper, along with plush carpeting to evoke a cozy, living room like setting.

Since opening the boutique in February 2007, Founder and CEO, Stacy Smallwood has been responsible for curating Hampden’s exceptional offering and exclusive collaborations, while ensuring unprecedented client service and quintessential southern hospitality for her loyal customers across the world. Each season she travels the world, discovering and seeking out new collections that inspire her, hand selecting each piece to proudly hang in Hampden.

About You
You ideally have 1-3 years of luxury or high-end sales experience with a proven ability to drive store results with candor and kindness. You have a passion for driving sales through the client experience. You're creative yet numbers-driven, detailed yet able to see the big picture, and thrive when interacting with people. You have a service-oriented approach to sales and your experience managing a team is evident because each stylist easily meets their sales goals and deeply desires to work hard for the entire team so as not to let each other down. You revel in creating raving fans not only in Hampden's customers, but in Hampden's internal team members as well.

About The Role
The Sales Manager at Hampden is responsible for overseeing, training & inspiring our dynamic sales team. This role must be present on the sales floor for most of the day to provide continued guidance and training for the sales team. You'll be required to break down sales goals and encourage the sales team to work together to achieve those goals each month. You'll need to hold team members accountable to their goals month in and out.

  • Hold stylists accountable for their actions
  • Come up with sales goals, see what's achievable, and play an active role in helping them achieve their goal through leadership
  • Create sales staff schedule
  • Hold monthly one-on-one meetings with each stylist
  • Create potential sales opportunities to garner more sales (pop ups and events)
  • Ensure all top clients are well taken care of and served
  • Review top clients lists and analyze lists for each event
  • Must not shy away from difficult conversations and hold people accountable according to roles and responsibilities
  • Team player
  • Ability to lead the morning meeting with the Sales Team
  • Enjoy leading a team

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1-3 years experience of managing a luxury retail sales team with a proven ability to drive store results with candor and kindness.
  • Experience managing a sales team
  • Strong verbal and written skills, effective and kind communicator
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Builder of relationships - with both customers and colleagues
  • Willing to work as a part of a team and complete work indepdently
  • A customer service expert - creates experiences and develops relationships with customers, embraces the social aspect of sales and the ability to handle customer concers positively and proactively
  • Technologically-saavy a plus, with a willingness to learn
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects with awareness of priority and timeline
  • Financial acumen
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and listening skills
  • Resourceful, speedy, flexible, and agile
  • Must be able to lift, carry, move 40 lbs at a minimum
  • Willing to work in an environment with bright lights and music
